How I Stay Consistent
After my second daughter was born in summer 2021, I made it my mission to get into the best shape of my life.
I had spent most of my twenties drunk and overweight. I was so tired of that lifestyle. With two little girls looking up to me, I wanted to see just how much I could achieve if I stayed focused and put in the work.
I’ve been consistent for quite a while now, despite having a busy family life and working full time.
It hasn’t been easy, but it has been worth it. Here are a few tips for staying consistent.
love the process
I love going to the gym because I love getting stronger every day. I like seeing what I can achieve. I’m no longer chasing the end result. When you enjoy the journey, you’re so much more likely to stick with something long term.
Be flexible
I like having a routine, but let’s be honest: life is unpredictable, especially when you have kids. As a response to this unpredictability, I am super flexible and adjust my schedule as needed.
If my original plan can’t happen, I quickly rearrange my day to stay consistent with my workout plans. For the most flexibility, I’d recommend working out at home or joining a 24-hour gym.
make it a lifestyle
The gym isn’t something I do when I feel like it. A lot of my core values are now built around fitness. I prioritize my sleep, nutrition, and training. I don’t drink alcohol anymore. I spend my time with quality people who support me instead of drag me down. It’s a whole lifestyle.
Once you commit to the lifestyle and start chasing those non-scale victories, consistency will follow.
